    Cafe Virtuoso Slideshows

    Jubilee Economics’ podcast The Common Good went on the road to San Diego’s Cafe Virtuoso where everything is organic, as much as possible is Fair Trade, and the goods are top quality. (Episode 18 is the main audio interview.)

    This series of slideshows is an extension to the podcast interview with Steve von Kolkow and Laurie Britton, the principal owner-partners at Virtuoso.

    Tomatoes Teach Jubilee

    Giant volunteer tomato plant bears fruit

    Sometimes I think we waste too many words talking about Jubilee. It isn’t that they aren’t good words or well studied, well meant, and probably even useful. But once in a while, they fall flat in the face of a glimpse of the real thing.

    My wife Kelli is holding a bowl of cherry tomatoes that are among the first such bowls yet to come for the summer. A few months ago, a determined little volunteer plant started shooting up near the compost igloo.
