Tomatoes Teach Jubilee
Giant volunteer tomato plant bears fruit
Sometimes I think we waste too many words talking about Jubilee. It isn’t that they aren’t good words or well studied, well meant, and probably even useful. But once in a while, they fall flat in the face of a glimpse of the real thing.
My wife Kelli is holding a bowl of cherry tomatoes that are among the first such bowls yet to come for the summer. A few months ago, a determined little volunteer plant started shooting up near the compost igloo.
